I was commissioned to paint four paintings of Africa from a recent safari that Doug Farquharson and his family took this past fall. Between Doug his wife Linda and his adult children I was given the most spectacular reference material to paint from. Some of the best time of this whole commission was seeing all of their pictures and experiencing some of the safari through their eyes. After much deliberation we finally chose these four images for the paintings. The paintings of the lions and elephants were surprise gifts to their children and the landscape was for their new home in Tulsa Oklahoma. Doug and Linda, I just want to thank you again for this opportunity to paint these for you and your family. It's been the best commission of my art carrier so far and resulted in some of my best work as well.
This lovely lady is named Frannie. She is the loyal companion of a great client of mine by the name of Jeanne Achziger. I had great fun taking her photograph in the strawberry batch in Jeanne's backyard. This is the resulting portrait. I am very pleased with the final painting and honored to have had the opportunity to paint Frannie. Thanks, Jeanne!
